At the age of 15 I started playing the drums. I taught myself, due to the lack of drumschools teaching rockdrums in their educational plans (back then in 1972). It was possible to study classics or jazz but I wanted to go full blast into the rock genre, just like my favorite bands, such as Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and many more. There were almost no books available, never mind videos or play along tapes/CDs.
I listened to all those records (vinyl) as closely as possible and tried to interpret the styles to my liking.

We (me and a couple of school friends) formed our first band and started to make real loud music in every free minute we had. Really freaky that was.

After my time in school and four years of apprenticeship as a precision mechanic, it became difficult to keep the band together, as work and other things became more important to most of us. But not to me. I really wanted to make my living playing drums.

After a couple of years of struggling with part-time mechanic jobs, I needed to go a step further and wanted to become a professional drummer. I quit everything else and started giving drum lessons at music stores and –schools and soon I had quite a lot to play.

Then I was offered the first studio jobs and smaller tours and all of a sudden I found myself playing in several bands at the same time!

I had the chance to get endorsement deals for all my equipment, namely Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Swiss labelled Agner Drumsticks and Aquarian Drumheads. To this day this makes me very happy and my life as a drummer a lot easier. Thank you guys!...
